Style Tips: Coat Dressing for Paris Haute Couture
Ask anyone in fashion and they’d tell you that one of the hardest things to do is to battle the cold weather and stay warm without looking like you’re drowning in layers. That’s why this trip was extra challenging for Kat (Katrina Cruz - my stylist) and I. Paris in January is really cold and you’ll be lucky if it reaches even 10°C. Still, it was a challenge that I welcomed and I really enjoyed being able to layer and play with my outfits.
1. Two-Tone
Coat - Stand Studio; Denim Jacket - Louis Vuitton; Skirt - Elisabetta Franchi
This faux-fur that I wore to the Elie Saab show is something that I’ve had for years now. I wanted to wear something fun, colorful, and playful and it was just the perfect piece. I layered it over my Louis Vuitton denim jacket and Elisabetta Franchi skirt that I loved so much.
2. Printed
Coat, Dress, Skirt - Louis Vuitton; Bag - Hermes
For the Alexandre Vauthier show, I wore head to toe Louis Vuitton. The star of the look was definitely the bright, oversized plaid coat, which pulled the whole outfit together. Now I know it can be intimidating to wear a printed coat, but as long as the rest of your pieces stick to the same color palette, it will look chic.
3. Lightweight
Coat - Leo & Lin
One of my favorites was definitely this billowy Leo & Lin coat which I wore to Ulyana Sergeenko and Schiaparelli. It felt like I was wearing a cloud of sorts — a high fashion one at that. It was dreamy! Although it was quite light, it was able to keep me warm because of strategic layering.
4. As a Dress
Trench Coat - Leo & Lin ; Bag - Hermes
And of course, to the Chanel Viewing and Ralph and Russo show, I wore this plaid trench coat from Leo & Lin. It was such an interesting piece that I decided to make it the real star of my look and wear it as a dress. I closed it up, tied it at the waist for shape — et voila! The best part is that it matched my hand-painted Hermes handbag, it definitely added a feminine touch to this edgy look.
That’s it for now! Tell me what other fashion or styling tips you’d like to hear from me.
